Hi. Mike here.
Before we get into the boring logistics, I need to manage your expectations: I am not Amazon. I'm not gonna lie, I wish I had opened an online bookstore in 1995 and made a couple of trillion dollars but alas I was in my first year of high school at that time and somehow Jeff Bezos beat me to it.
I do not have a fleet of electric vans. I do not have a massive warehouse in Doncaster staffed by robots. I am just one guy who designs mugs in Cheshire.
Because of this, Mugs You Like operates on a Print-on-Demand model. This is better for the planet (no waste) and better for my sanity (no boxes blocking the hallway), but it means shipping works a little differently.
1. The Timeline (Read this bit!)
When you click "Buy," your mug does not exist yet. It is a blank piece of ceramic sitting on a shelf.
-
Phase 1: Production (2–5 Business Days) We print your mug fresh to order. Usually, this takes about 3 days. At Christmas? Maybe 5.
-
Phase 2: Shipping (2–5 Business Days) Once the ink is dry, we hand it to the postie.
-
The Bottom Line: Please allow 5–10 business days for your order to arrive.
2. Where does it come from?
I design everything in the UK, but I use a global network of printing partners to get the product to you faster and without customs fees.
-
UK Orders: Printed and shipped from Birmingham. (Royal Mail / Evri).
-
USA Orders: Printed and shipped from Charlotte, NC or Dallas, TX. (USPS).
-
Europe: Printed and shipped from Spain or Latvia.
-
Rest of World: We route it to the facility closest to you.
3. The "Missing Item" Panic (Split Shipments)
If you order a Mug and a T-Shirt, they will likely arrive in two separate packages. (Do we even sell T-shirts?)
-
Why? Mugs are heavy and breakable; they need rigid cardboard boxes. T-shirts are soft and squishy; they go in poly bags. If we put them in the same box, the mug would win the fight and the shirt would get crushed.
-
Don't Panic: If one arrives without the other, the second one is just a day or two behind. Check your email for multiple tracking numbers.
4. Shipping Costs
I hate hidden fees, so I’ll be honest: shipping heavy ceramics isn't cheap.
-
Calculation: Shipping is calculated at checkout based on where you live.
-
Bulk Discount: The first mug costs the most to ship. If you add a second (or third) mug to the same order, the shipping cost for the extra items drops significantly. (Hint: Buy a set, save on postage).
5. Customs & Duties
-
UK/USA/EU: You should not be charged customs fees because we fulfil locally in these regions.
-
International (Canada, Australia, etc.): Depending on your local laws, you might be charged an import duty. I have zero control over this (I don’t run the government, thankfully). If customs fees apply, they are the responsibility of the customer to pay.
6. Lost or Stolen Packages
If your tracking says "Delivered" but your hands are empty:
-
Check with your neighbour (Bob at number 42 might have it).
-
Check your "Safe Place" (behind the bin?).
-
If it’s truly gone, email me at [Store@mugsyoulike.com] within 30 days. We’ll track it down or send you a new one.
